Marriage & Our Maker | A Biblical Perspective

Teachings
  • Marriage and Our Maker Overview

This series takes an in-depth look at the topic of marriage by examining it through the counter-cultural lens of God’s Word. In a world where the definition and purpose of marriage are often debated and redefined, this study aims to anchor our understanding in the unchanging truth of Scripture. Rather than adopting the shifting views of culture, this series calls couples, individuals, and families to return to God’s original design for marriage as revealed in His Word.

At the heart of the series is the conviction that God created marriage with a specific purpose and structure in mind—one that involves a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. This relationship is not merely a social contract or emotional connection but a sacred union established by God Himself. By exploring key biblical passages, such as Genesis 2, Ephesians 5, and Matthew 19, the series lays a foundation for what it means to view marriage through God’s eyes.

One of the key themes addressed is the idea that marriage is meant to reflect the relationship between Christ and the Church. The sacrificial love, mutual respect, and spiritual unity seen in that divine relationship are meant to be mirrored in the way husbands and wives relate to one another. The role of the husband is framed as that of a loving, selfless leader who seeks to serve and care for his wife, while the wife is encouraged to respond with respect, support, and trust. These roles are not based on cultural traditions or personal preferences, but on God’s intentional design for flourishing relationships.

The series also tackles some of the common challenges couples face in marriage today—such as communication breakdown, unmet expectations, and the influence of a culture that often prioritizes individual happiness over commitment. By addressing these struggles honestly and biblically, the series offers practical encouragement for couples to grow in their love for one another and in their commitment to God.

In addition to strengthening existing marriages, this series speaks to those who are preparing for marriage or considering its significance. It helps individuals understand the weight and beauty of the marital covenant, encouraging them to pursue relationships that honor God and are built on a foundation of faith.

Ultimately, this series is a call to rediscover God’s vision for marriage—a vision that is rooted in love, grounded in truth, and directed toward His glory. It challenges us to see marriage not through the lens of convenience or cultural opinion, but as a divine gift and calling. Through God’s Word, we find the guidance, strength, and hope needed to build marriages that endure and reflect the heart of Christ.
